Who benefits from a credit based trading system? (all)

There is gain potential for all installations involved. Market price for NOx and SOx per ton is always lower than the marginal abatement costs of most of the targeted industries. Therefore, buying installations save 2 to 9 times the cost of in-house abating technology per ton reduced, while selling installations are encouraged to keep on reducing further emissions by a margin of profit. A credit based trading scheme is a win-win situation. In absolute numbers, those sectors at the low and high bar will benefit the most, such as energy related industries, which are primary suppliers to all other industrial sectors.

As abatement costs vary per sector, there is no competitive disadvantage for the participants. On the contrary, emission markets provide a cost effective way to fulfil environmental restrictions without disabling the competitiveness of a company in the global arena. Furthermore, societies can enjoy clean air qualities at the optimum cost.
