Tradeable emission reductions are those achieved below IMO or EU baselines. This means that ships already using clean oil or abatement technology will be allowed to participate in the scheme and sell reduction credits. The system aims to decrease nitrogen and sulphur oxide emissions overall and it will not punish forerunners.
